Susan Fessler has been playing guitar since she was 10 years old and, by the time she was in high school, was playing professionally. She was a founding member of “Olde Spice” in 1977. Susan toured throughout the United States and the Caribbean with the show band “RB and the Gang.” Since returning to Reading, she has continued to perform in local bands and theater. Susan currently spends her work days in the world of sales and marketing and does motivational speaking.

Craig Schollenberger began playing professionally and teaching guitar when he was 16 years old. His father, Saxie Schollenberger was a well-known band leader and teacher in the Reading area. Craig played guitar and electric bass in many local bands and went on to travel, full time, as a musician. He has backed up or played alongside such artists as Gladys Knight, Patti LaBelle, Kool & the Gang and Jr. Walker & the All Stars, to name a few. Craig returned to music full time during the ’80’s, playing, teaching and doing stringed instrument repairs and custom building. He assembled and finished the guitar you see him playing in Get Real.

From the website:

Our goal is to raise money for 10 kids ages 12 to 18, chosen by lottery, to be provided an instrument and 10 lessons in the style of music that they choose.  Our program is already working with area businesses, music teachers, administrators, professionals, and is building partnerships in order to provide music education free of charge to children who will be drawn from a lottery and are offered a place in the program.  We are passionate about making high caliber musicians and instruments accessible to Vallejo’s youth to inspire and excite the creative, positive energy in our city.

Last year’s event included four days on two stages of garage punk, electronic industrial, disco dance punk, and hard core metal music, and an epic visit from special guest Klaus Flouride of the Dead Kennedys. Other performers included Klank, The Sky Bleeds White, Box of Kittens, Shananagens, and Atomic Machines.
